SPD Petrofac – CRM Customizations

SPD Petrofac approached Intellicore seeking a better solution to the various spreadsheets that were being managed internally. Following a period of analysis with the client, a solution utilizing Microsoft Dynamics CRM was agreed as the best fit solution.

The Client

SPD, one of the largest companies of its kind globally, is an independent specialist Well Engineering Company with absolute focus on core expertise of well engineering.

The Problem

The problem that SPD had with their previous business process was that each individual person was responsible for maintaining a spread sheet that contained all their contact and opportunity information. Therefore this information wasn’t readily available to the organisation as a whole and could not be readily reported on.

What we did

To solve the issues faced by SPD, Intellicore Ltd designed and implemented a Dynamics CRM Online solution after some extensive requirements capture. The solution incorporated a lot of standard CRM configuration and customisation as well as a custom opportunity close dialog and opportunity forecasting screen to improve the reporting functionality of the system as well as full Microsoft Outlook integration.

The majority of the customisations were around the opportunity entity so that SPD could collect data on how their different service lines were selling as well as incorporating some specific business requirements such as upselling other applicable service line and building on customer relationships.

Included in the process was a data migration exercise which involved helping SPD to collate all their old data from their spreadsheets into a form that the system could accept.


The benefits of the system came mainly from the centralisation of the organisation’s sales data in that it could be easily accessed and reported on by anyone within the organisation from across the world. This included records of communication such as emails, phone calls, tasks and meetings being recorded against opportunities/contacts/accounts so other users can pick up a record and progress it without input from the owning user.


Intellicore successfully installed and tailored CRM for our business, which is a worldwide one based in three different geographical locations. In addition they tailored the system to allow CRM to drive our financial forecasts. Their systems and installation people did an excellent job, were approachable and pragmatic in providing solutions to our needs.
