System support: How Intellicore partnered with Namaka Compliance to improve and maintain their cloud-based management solution.
Namaka Compliance are an Aberdeen based company providing competency and compliance services to the Energy industry. They were founded in 2020 after seeing an increased demand for these services. Namaka deliver innovative solutions through their Outsourced Competence Assurance Support (OCAS) model and their cloud-based Athena Competence Management System (CMS).
Their Athena CMS was created to replace outdated paper and spreadsheet systems with a cloud-based platform that provides real-time visibility of workforce competence. It includes structured tools for training, career progression, and compliance, while supporting remote verification and rich evidence capture - reducing risk, cost, and environmental impact.
Implementation of Athena CMS has transformed competence management for Namaka’s clients. It provides them with real-time tracking, structured career progression and verifiable evidence of compliance with safety- critical regulations.
It reduces the need for paper records while minimising on-site assessment risks and streamlines regulatory reporting. The knowledge and experience of offshore personnel, training experts, and competence assessors played a vital role in creating a system that reflects real-world operations, builds regulatory trust, and drives measurable gains in workforce safety and efficiency.

Namaka Compliance reached out to Intellicore for support with improving and maintaining their already existing Athena system. Intellicore successfully fixed bugs, improved the system through the addition of updates to their Discipline Awards and the enhancement of their notes feature. This ensured that Namaka had an operational system which could be used for themselves and by their clients.

The industry’s dependence on spreadsheets, paper logbooks, and manual records created significant challenges in tracking workforce competence, proving compliance with COMAH regulations, and effectively managing safety-critical roles. In-person assessments further increased risk, expense, and carbon impact, while systems lacked the structure to support career development or evolving energy transition demands. These issues highlighted the necessity for a modern digital solution such as Athena CMS.

Intellicore were first involved in carrying out an onboarding phase for the client. This allowed us to gather an in-depth analysis of the existing codebase where we were able to identify areas for improvement. As part of the onboarding phase, Intellicore also conducted a workshop with the key stakeholders within Namaka to gain further insights into the system. By understanding the pain points and areas they were keen to improve, Intellicore were able to produce a backlog of tickets which were prioritised and actioned on a monthly basis as part of the ongoing support retainer.
Intellicore’s support tickets followed our usual quality process - development, QA testing, UAT in a dedicated environment, and client sign-off - ensuring all updates functioned as expected.
